Founded in 1952 as The Haddonfield Symphony, Symphony in C is one of three professional training orchestras in the U.S., preparing musicians and conductors through concert and educational outreach programs. Members are students and recent graduates of prestigious conservatories and universities. Acceptance is by rigorous competitive auditions. The season includes 5 symphonic concerts at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts, 3 chamber concerts in Haddonfield, and a Concert for Young People. Symphony in C musicians serve as teaching artists in a music education program that includes a Summer Camp, Youth Orchestra, and After-School Instrumental Music Lessons, serving the region with a focus on disadvantaged children and youth.
